My name is Faletasipouafe. I was born on a small island in the South Pacific, but spent most of my childhood as a peripatetic nomad–exploring the various suburbs of Southern California. After high school I fell in love with redwoods, and moved to Santa Cruz. Although I left home with the intent of becoming a writer, I found I spent most my time in the drawing studio, then in the library.
In the Spring of 2010 I graduated from UC Santa Cruz–go banana slug–with a bachelor's in Fine Art. I loved the monologue of being an artist, but after graduation, found I preferred the dialogue of being a designer.
Almost eight years later, it is still that conversation between the designer and the audience that makes me excited about work. So much of what I learned as a writer and as an artist, impact what I do as a user experience and interaction designer. Each discipline–writing, art, and design–force you to think about communication in a different way. However, the latter two disciplines, demand more abstraction.
At the moment, I am living/working in sunny* San Francisco, CA. I still draw, but prefer as there is less to set/clean up. I am the proud mother of a 2 year old mutt named Mila. And enjoy spending my time outside of work hanging out with my best friend and roommate JD.
